There is only one Sub Voicive Poetry reading this month (for reasons that
have nothing to do with poetry)
Next Tuesday, 20th April, Alastair Noon.
I *do hope people will turn up! What worries me is that he is relatively
young and relatively unknown here largely because he is resident in Berlin.
He is a poet of wide range, but he says that his poems whether verbal or
visual should be seen as a continuum - this is a reference to his statement
in my and Cobbing's WORD SCORE UTTERANCE TEXT
I hope that I haven't put anyone off by mentioning visual poetry! NB Bob and
I gave him an extra page - 4 pp instead of 3 pp, such is our enthusiasm for
Noon's work
Because of his normal distance from London, Alastair has a whole evening to
himself; but he's going to read go straight through in one set...
I do hope that those who are able will support my "faith" in Mr Noon. See
you Tuesday
Upstairs, The Three Cups, Sandland Street, London WC1 8pm for 8.15 p.m. £5 /
£2.50

"Voluntary and subliminal censorship is a taboo subject in free societies.
One of the most effective functions of "communicators" in the Western media
is to minimise the culpability of established power in war, terrorism and
the repression of human rights by repetition of received truths and omission
on a grand scale." John Pilger
