Judith E Wilson Fellowships at the University of Cambridge
The Faculty of English in the University of Cambridge maintains strong
links with practising poets and dramatists, and each year invites
applications from practitioners in these fields to become members of the
Faculty as Judith E Wilson Fellows.
The Fellowships are intended:
- to provide an opportunity for personal research and writing;
- to offer opportunities to work with students and members of the Faculty,
and/or Cambridge-based theatre companies.
The normal term of Fellowships is six months (preferably from October to
March), but they may be held for a shorter time if this coincides best with
professional commitments. This year the the awarding committee is
interested in considering a range of projects which might include: a
conference, a book project, or a specific theatre production.
Applications are now invited for two Fellowships:
- The Senior Fellowship is intended for established poets, dramatists or
theatre practitioners, and is available for a period of up to six months
during the academic year 1999-2000. The stipend for six months is £17,000,
and is negotiable for shorter periods.
- The Junior Fellowship is available for the same period but is intended
for those at the beginning of their careers. The stipend for nine months is
£18,000 and is negotiable for shorter periods.
Applicants should send a curriculum vitae and a brief statement indicating
how they would like to use the Fellowship, and a smample of work of 15
pages maximum to the Secretary of the Judith E Wilson Fund, Faculty of
English, 9 West Road, Cambridge CB3 9DP (email [log in to unmask]) by the
closing date of 26 April. Interviews will be held on 13 May.
