Peter, I hear you. But the violence in Kosovo isn't happening for "no
reason whatsoever". Milosevic has clear objectives, as do the KLA -- as
does NATO. And no one, I hope, is getting prideful or trying to score
points. We're talking, in a practical way, hopefully, about the matter at
hand.
It is possible that continued NATO action might hinge upon public
support. For this reason it is imperative that the public debate and
discuss these matters. I am a nobody -- and I would humbly ask that we
each tolerate the irrational and heated portions of any message, and keep
our minds reasonable and clear.
I think what we must _not_ do is grow quiet about it. This is serious: I
have friends over there; as do, I'm sure, many many on this list.
