If a criticism is due to the work, so be it, I write critiques, but it is
the personalisation of the criticism which is the point of the discussion as
far as I can see. To a great extent it is difficult to divorce yourself
from criticism of your work and it smarts. But to be personally attacked
is offensive and usually results in retaliation. To justify this by saying,
as I read somewhere that "at least it gets a response", is contemptible,
kicking someone in the shins will get a response, but isn't it all so
terribly negative and demeaning to all involved?
