This book is a collection of my shorter pieces on poetry and poetics,
selected to tell a narrative about the radical poetries between the dates
in the subtitle, with ideas reappearing across the book in a variety of
contexts. There are reviews of work by Lee Harwood, Tom Raworth,
Roy Fisher, JH Prynne, Allen Fisher, Ken Edwards, Bruce Andrews,
Gilbert Adair and others. There are the series of concise hybrid pieces I
was wrting before academia kidnapped me, on Ulli Freer, Adrian Clarke,
Maggie O'Sullivan and Bob Cobbing. In addition there are a few poetics
pieces that relate to my wn work, but, in context, they reflect on the
practice of others.
Stride also published my EMPTY DIARIES last year, the spine of the
project Twentieth Century Blues, at six pounds 95 pence.
