The question Doug is a relative one.
The actual size is not really all that important.
All browsers can alter the basic font size on screen
In IE3 it is done by clicking on the "Font" icon
and you make the font size bigger or smaller.
I usually have it set about the third smallest one
but can instantly set it higher if the fonts are too small to read
and then if I want to print a page out I'll set it to the smallest
to save paper.
However you set the font-size in the HTML source
how it looks on screen will depend on the browser
being used to view it and the user's individual settings.
Of course, many people never change from the default settings
which are often not the best.
If you stick to the mid-range of sizes your pages will be
easily viewed by most browsers.
