A wee few words to encourage people to check out the new Sub Voicive venue
at
Churchill's. I was there for the splendid reading by Gavin Selerie and
Alan Halsey launching their Days of '49. Both bringing zippy dynamic colour
to that most colourless of times with cheeky side swipes, affectionate
insights and wicked highlights of the low-life, the not so and everything in
between. An evening of
thought provoking fun. (O.K. I'm biased but it never stifled the truth).
The venue is infinitely better than 3 Cups. Good acoustics ( the carpet
doesn't eat words) with no outside traffic noise so windows can can-can
freely and airily. Spatially benign and with a full house like it was for
the first night cosy but not cramped. The pub downstairs is more 'lived in'
at night and altogether the atmosphere has more atmosphere. It has to be a
winner. Go. Enjoy.
