I'm sure Ric is right, but I have a distinct memory that that was me--
--that Forbes reviewed The New British Poetry in somewhere like TLS and
said "Poo, look at this-- this one (Ospita by P Riley) is a set of trad
sonnets with rhymes and stuff, goes to show dunnit it, this lot, claim
they're avant-garde and stuff and cor blimey look at that, what a load of
w**kers..."
I remember writing a note to PAGES saying this bloke doesn't know a sonnet
when he sees one.
Perhaps Senor Forbes says this habitually, perhaps he has it as a pre-set
paragraph on his word-processor for when the occasion arises.
Sorry this is all another lot of rather boring prehistory.
