Pound's later Cantos are completely smothered in absolute certainty. The
non-sequiturs in them re-inforce that certainty and project it out to the
world as so certain it doesn't need to be connectively
explained or proven or justified or dialogued. Yet it sites itself far
beyond the lyric trance in areas of encyclopaedic mastery or one-man
university. The war broadcasts on economics and racial purity behave in
the same way within a different mode of address. It seems obvious to me
that the mind-habits that produced the one encouraged the production of the
other. Which we can't just set aside as ignorable content, because those
same mind-habits are projected at us every time we read the Cantos.
