Writers Forum Workshop Saturday, 11 December 1999
Including
Adrian Clarke read from his recent sonnets, ongoing.
Mike Weller read from his ongoing alphabet sequence - getting better and
better
Lawrence Upton read a few more pages from _networking_, the latest in his
huming sequence
Cobbing and Upton performed pages from _Domestic Ambient Noise_ and Upton's
polychrome montage _Quoit_
WF has just reprinted the 1974 _Bob Cobbing and Writers Forum_ (Ceolfrith
Press) and launched it by reading his W and T poems which, confusingly, he
said hadn't been heard at a workshop since 1965
Sean Bonney launched _astrophil and stella_ - a largely sound / visual work
which he performed with considerable brio (0 86162 978 7) and _from the book
of the living or dying_ (0 86162 977 9)
I shall, I decided as he was reading the latter, write at some length
somewhere as and when soon about this gem; but for now I just commend it for
its liveliness invention and intensity:
x is fucking y above ground, un-concernd in the fragile air. x tumbles
first, y simultaneous, by magnetic procedures, with or without financial
insertion. scattered particles cool slightly, then solidify till x is a
window, y a stranger's silhourette. yes they are become strange.
...........
your words are phony and your cards are phony. as a door pigs from rivers,
and faces remain in the window. circled, indistinct, we crawl out from the
river and knock on thopens in the disjunctions of mathematics, 1946, the
imposition of absolute vertigo. maniacs emerge from woods, e doors of dead
poets. when they answer with violence we are less than amazed. this is
realism, an accurate reflection of the social scene
