Dom Voicive Poetry [footnote 1] has moved to a new venue where it is hoped
the readings
will take place for at least one season.
There will be no more readings at 3 Cups
The first reading at the new venue will be on 7th December 1999, Alan Halsey
and Gavin Selerie. 8 p.m. for 8.15 p.m.
The venue is:
Upstairs,
Churchill's
59 Mount Pleasant
London WC1X 0AE
Below is guidance on how to get there. It sounds complex but it's really not
and not much more laborious than 3 cups to get to. A slightly longer walk
from the tube than 3 Cups but much better served by buses and stns
Tube and train stations: Kings X, Farringdon or Chancery Lane Tube
>From Kings X Stn.
either walk south from Kings X Stns down Grays Inn Rd until Elm St (on left)
or walk south from Kings X Stns down Kings X Rd and then Farringdon Rd until
Rosebury Ave, then right (round the sorting office) into Rosebury Ave and
thence right Mount Pleasant
>From Farringdon Stn
walk north from Farringdon Stn up Farringdon Rd - right out of stn brings
you to Farringdon Rd in a minute or two - until Rosebury Avenue - see Route
2
from Chancery Lane Stn
walk up Grays Inn Rd to Theobalds Rd and then up Rosebury Ave - see above
Buses on Grays Inn Road are 17, 45, 46. Going north or south the stop is
called "Theobald's Road". In either case, walk north a little and thence
down Elm St, which runs east from Grays Inn Road. Where Elm St joins Mount
Pleasant, you will see Churchills on Mount Pleasant itself.
Buses on Rosebury Avenue are 19, 38 and 341. Going west the stop is "Vine
Hill"; going east it is "Rosebury Square". In both cases walk east a little
and then north up Laystall Street, which runs north of Rosebury Avenue.
Churchills is on the east corner of Laystall St and Mount Pleasant.
Buses 55, 243 and 505 run down Clerkenwell Road, within a stone's throw
Bus 63 runs on Farringdon Road. Going south, the stop is north of Rosebury
Ave: cross Farringdon Road and round the post office building i,e. south and
then west. Mount Pleasant is to your right. Walk up it. Churchills is on the
left. The first pub you'll see is a snare and a delusion. Resist its wiles.
Going north on Farringdon Road, , the 63 stops someway south of Rosebury
Avenue: walk north, cross Rosebury Avenue and then slightly left to Mount
Pleasant
There is a greasy spoon opposite the Penny Black. Just south of PB is a
"progressive working class caterer". To its east have been sighted wine
bars, sushi bars and quite probably take away interior design.
