David: please say more precisely why you think Carol Mirakove's poem may
have been influenced by (or may refer somehow to) Pindar. That there
might be a sportive or vaguely celebratory feel seems hardly sufficient.
And certainly the verse has nothing like so regimented a result; indeed it
is careful -not- to repeat any metrical passage, however haphazard. Were
there really to be such a reference, I should certainly not feel that the
prosody was intended to be resultless (like a flick of the neck, or
holding your breath for a minute and a half then letting go).
Also:
"I'd suspect that the form precludes questioning of the environment."
I don't know what this means. Could you explain it?
