Thought that Robin's post of Monday 11th, on Prynne & Brady's _Liberties_,
was interesting & deserving of response, so I'd been trying this week to
make time to settle down seriously with _Liberties_ for consideration. So
far no luck--but I'm rather sorry to see the thread slip into oblivion.
Has no-one else read this--I think striking & demanding--text & had much to
say? I suppose it is a bit daunting to tackle such writing. -- But I also
wanted to register my agreement with Robin's _gesture_, towards getting
discussion going on particular authors & texts--seems to me that it's far
too easy to meander around _issues_ like process-vs-product &c when it
might help to actually get specific (I mean books, authors, lines,
pagenumbers). Been dabbling in Stanley Cavell's _The Claim of Reason_
recently, & I like how he puts it in a different context: that he conceives
of philosophy not as a history of "problems" but as a history of "texts".
Those curious about _Liberties_ may find a sizeable chunk of it at BK
Stefans' excellent _Arras_ website: go to
<http://www.geocities.com/arras_online/issue1.htm>.
I wrote the website owner of _readme_ about the review & he's going to fix
the erroneous version of the title of Prynne's _Poems_. A small but
worthwhile improvement.
all best --N
