I've just been trying out the new web-based Literary Resource Center from
Gale (basically, a souped-up version of some of their reference books).
Under each author it has little options like biography, list of works,
articles on etc... it also has an engaging option which allows you to
search for "Other authors who write on similar themes": you pick themes
from a list, and away you go. So these are the themes - ALL of them -
which you're allowed to choose from:
Death
Truth
Meaning of life
Love
Romanticism
Loss
Reality
Consciousness
That's all. I realise now that this is where I - and perhaps others - have
been going wrong all these years: if only I'd had a list of approved
themes given to me at the outset I could have avoided all that off-message
stuff which I've been wasting my time with...
