Alison's splendid and almost surrealist story reminds me of something I read
a year or two ago from the States where it was reported that a bunch of
academics that had been given responsibility for drawing up a list of free
books to be sent to Sarajevo University (or Zagreb, wherever) actually
failed to include any more than a couple of primary texts and DID include
some dozens of their own deconstructions/analyses/cogitations. Fortunately
some creators got wind of this and ensured that a slightly more
representative breakdown of current American writing was sent to the U. in
question. I suppose we should be grateful they did not try to perform their
texts in the ruins of Bosnia...
