Thanks for the response, David
>art that should be a freespace of the mind
but you are on a much more rarefied plateau than I am.
Whose mind is free (and free from what?)? Art isn't free, it is everywhere
in very snazzy post-commy chains. Mind is worth 50p at least. Allegedly.
What does the-restriction-of-copying do to the work?
In Mousehole, Cornwall ('sleepy', except in 'season', wind tossed,
starry-gazey, piebald) some years ago lived an artist who drew Mickey Mouse
(a 'quotation', almost an 'homage') in an otherwise un-Disney drawing. The
full legal weight of Disney Corp. fell on him. He was crushed, bankrupted
(?) (and got a lot of publicity (- I do not know what he did with that
publicity BTW. It is possible he made a fortune.)).
Who first drew the Mouse? Did that first drawer benefit from the
crushing/bankrupting? Likely? Or The Corporation? Thus it ever was. The
first drawer sold 'his' labor (being american) and had no rights over the
copy - I imagine. Even had 'he' had rights over the copy, could 'he' have
exorsizzled them?
Oswald's Plunderphonics came a cropper. As have rappers?
What price 'intertextuality' and 'heteroglossia' and 'quotation'? It is
only when they don't bite that you know that what you are doing doesn't do
anything dangerous. An unbitten hand that feeds you is worth 2 quid on
botched postage.
Write me a copy. It is only if I have something to lose that I notice that
I could invoke some chains against which to fret.
Read me. Eat me. Feed me.
Who owns copyright?
The Who own copyright?
Is "Alice Carroll" in lieu?)
'Pay' (respect to) the tale not the piper, because the sewer is merely a
conduit.
Dear Simon
>So the next time I want to pirate a poem or a book of yours, Alaric, that'll
>be fine then? Maybe print the text(s) under my own name?
what is this "of yours"?
You would want to??????!!!!!!! I would be HONOURED! Theft is the sexiest
form of flatulence.
It is only if you can see the chains that they look inviting.
Who writes what when for how much from whom?
Yours sincely
