Second thoughts.
`The Triumph of Love' (Geoffrey Hil), `Birthday Letters' (Ted Hughes),
`100 poems' (Richard Bear) are all long poems. From `The Long Poem Group

I should have realised that long poems are written in a very high
quality verse which occasionally may dip into poetry. They should not
be compared with books of individual poems. Silly me. By these criteria
all three of these poems are a success. It was just a matter of getting
the right way to look at them. We are so unused to the long poem
nowadays.
