Keston, I find the attempt to historicize human play as stemming from
Nietzsche utterly bizarre, as do you also. Have artists not often
foregrounded play, even as serious fun, from since way before way back when
- isn't that partly why Plato considered poets untrustworthy and not to
be suffered in his projected Republic? Play moves counter to protestant
conceptions of work and responsibility, but can be see as a foundation for
responsibilities that move against the repressive machinations of States.
