- I dunno, Stephen. Yes, I'd be worried if said enthusiasms became
"impositions", senses of an orthodoxy which has to be followed or
else... But I hope this list CAN serve - as it has in the past - to
pass enthusiasms on: because if we all stay in our own little areas of
"taste", no exchange is ever going to happen is it? I hope that by
participating in this OPEN list members are signalling (a) their
willingness to communicate good-naturedly with others, and (b) their
willingness to find out stuff from others. If not, why join?

- I for one wd say, go for it. Tom's been around a good long time, yet
to my mind hasn't had that much in the way of coherent comment, other
than the obvious gush sort of review, it'd be good to have some
presentation of what's going on there.

- OK: dazed and reeling tho I was, I did read enough of the postings
to recognise what you mean on both counts... and many elements of the
responses to said postings were equally indulgent, OSISTM. I'd hope
that now that we've got through the posturing and shouting across the
barricades bit, we can actually get on with the communication.
I'm not suggesting that the results of such enthusiasms/exchange are
that we all become one happy homogenous group, perish the bloody
thought. But the obvious potential benefits of plugging away at such
things with as much good nature as can be mustered surely outweigh the
alternative, which is a sealed non-comunication, a closure.
