There's a lot of that going around.
However, blithely ignoring the brickbats, I'm interested in (useful)
discussion, since I'm reading Prynne for the first time, and interested.
Nor, I think, should my perhaps luminous ignorance of the critical
squabbles around him preclude me from reading the poems. What is most
unclear to me at present is whether people are objecting to the poetry,
or to what is said about the poetry. I hold to the quaint view that the
poetry is what's most interesting, and I'm not especially bothered that
he's not Celan or Vallejo. I am finding a poetry full of feeling. But
Stravinksy has also been accused of unfeeling art, and I find that as
baffling.
