This new post is available from 1 October 1999 to 31 March 2002 in the
Section of Public Health within the School of Health and Related
Research, to join the newly funded Public Health GIS Support Unit. The
Unit will be an innovative development combining skills in
Geographical Information Systems (GIS), medical and spatial
statistics, geographical epidemiology, health impact assessment and
health economic analysis. The main roles of the Unit will be to
undertake rigorous, high quality research and to promote the use of
GIS methodologies by Public Health departments in Trent Region.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Medical
Statistician to make a major contribution to the application of
spatial statistical methods to address issues in medical and health
services research. MSc in Statistics or Medical Statistics, experience
in medical research and an interest in spatial statistics are
essential. A PhD in a related aspect is highly desirable. Experience
of S-Plus and handling large datasets will be an advantage.
The starting salary will be in the range (£16,286- £23,521 pa)
depending on qualifications and experience.
