Job: Bio/Medical Statistician
University of East Anglia, School of Health Policy and Practice
A position is available for a bio/medical statistician to work within the
Population Health and Primary Care Group (co-ordinated by Ian
Harvey, Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health) of the School of
Health Policy and Practice, University of East Anglia, Norwich.
The postholder will provide advice and assistance on the statistical
aspects of the design and conduct of research projects to health care
professionals in the Norfolk/Suffolk part of the Eastern NHS region.
He/She will work closely with Ms Frances Elender (co-ordinator of the
Research and Development Support Group) and Dr Lee Shepstone
(lecturer in medical statistics).
The School of Health Policy and Practice has over 40 staff with
expertise in the fields of medical statistics, epidemiology, health
economics and health psychology. It is envisaged that there will be
wide scope for collaboration on projects leading to publications.
Applicants are likely to have an MSc (or equivalent) in bio- or medical
statistics, possibly with some experience in health related research and
interacting with health care professionals. Good communication skills
(both written and verbal) are required together with a good working
knowledge of at least one major statistical package (e.g. SAS, SPSS,
Minitab).
The appointment will be on the RA1A grade and will be for 30 months in
the first instance.
