Short course to be held this Thursday afternoon and Friday morning
introducing participants to the ideas of Bayesian inference and
to the package WINbugs. Sorry last message had wrong dates, though the
days of the week are correct.

PLACE : Craiglockhart Campus, Napier University, Edinburgh.
 TIME : Thursday 24rd June 2-5pm and Friday 25th June 9.30am-12.30.
STAFF: Gillian Raab assisted by James Shaw
 CHARGE: 50 pounds

Apologies for the short notice, compounded by our email system crashing
and failing to send this off on my previous attempt. But the reason
for the late announcement is that this is an internal course
on which we have decided to offer at a modest charge to outside
participants. The cost of refreshments during the course is included.

If you would like to attend, could you please email me the
form below as soon as possible. A reply to this address
[log in to unmask]
would be safer than my usual email address that is given below.

If you can't make it this time, but might be interested in a course
at another time, please send me your e-mail address.

 -----------------------------------------------------------------

No previous knowledge of Bayesian methods is assumed, but some
background in likelihood methods would be beneficial. The course will
cover the basic ideas of Bayesian inference, and also a brief
introduction to some of the computational methods that are
implemented in WINbugs.

Practical sessions on Thursday will take you through some very
simple examples to gain confidence in defining priors and
carrying out computations. On Friday you will work more independently
on one of a selection of problems, with feedback session from other
participants at the end.

The course will be held at lab 134 at the Craiglockhart Campus,
10 Colinton Road, Edinburgh.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

I would like to attend the course on 24/25th June

Please send a cheque for 50 pounds to me at the address below, payable to

     Napier University.

Would you be interested in going out for a meal on Thurday evening
at your own expense at a modestly priced place?
