> During the last ten years there has been an increasing acceptance of the
> use of Bayesian statistics in general, and in particular in the area of
> clinical research. The purpose of this two-day course in Bayesian
> statistics is to give a general introduction to Bayesian ideas and their
> application in clinical research.
> Course Syllabus
>
> Core Topics:
>
> * an introduction to the basic principles of Bayesian Statistics
> * designing and monitoring Phase III clinical trials
> * predictions at interim stages in Phase III clinical trials
> * hierarchical models
> * multiplicity
> * practical implementation of Bayesian ideas
> * an introduction to Monte Carlo Markov Chain methods
> * software demonstrations
> The following topics will be covered to demonstrate the application of
> Bayesian ideas to practical problems:
> * pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic modelling
> * dose-finding
> * crossover trials
> * decision making in phase II trials
> * modelling between centre variability
> * meta-analysis
> * longitudinal studies
