BBSRC studentship in Molecular Evolution/Bioinformatics/
Computational Molecular Biology
UK nationals only.
University College London
A 3-year BBSRC Ph D studentship in molecular
evolution/Bioinformatics/Computatonal Molecular Biology is available
to work with Dr Ziheng Yang at Department of Biology, UCL. Starting
date is October 1, 1999, and application deadline is June 15,
1999. The project is in the area of molecular evolution/computational
molecular biology/bioinformatics, which combines the two most-rapidly
developing areas of modern science and technology, that is, molecular
biology and computer technology. The project will address statistical
and computational issues of DNA sequence analysis. We are particulaly
interested in a student with a maths/stats or computer science
background who is interested in applying his/her expertise
in interesting questions of molecular evolution. Biology candidates
with a keen interest to develop quantitative/bioinformatics skills are
also encouraged to apply. Informal enquiries and applications (with a
CV and two letters of recommendation) should be sent to
