The highly reputable Numerical Algorithms group ( NAg ltd ) has
packaged a large and useful subset of its well-proven statistical
routines to run from Excel.

You might want to take a look at "Analyse-it for Microsoft Excel". The
General statistics module includes linear regression, capable of analysing
upto 254 independent variables (254 is the limitation imposed by Excel's
worksheet column capacity).
Analyse-it uses a _very_ stable algorithm for matrix decomposition during
the linear regression calculations. That means the results are much more
accurate than Excel, more accurate than any other Excel add-in (we've
tested them all), and more accurate than even Minitab.
