Royal Statistical Society Leeds/Bradford Local Group
Wednesday 3rd November
DISCUSSION ON CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
The Humberside and North Eastern local groups are also participating in
this meeting, and hence it is intended as a regional forum.
As a statistician working in the 21st Century, it will be an increasing
challenge to keep up-to-date. The RSS is currently considering its role
in Continuing Professional Development (CPD), and is consulting the
Fellowship, including a series of Regional Meetings. Mary Smalls, Head
of Statistics, ISD NHS in Scotland, and a member of the CPD working
group will give a short background presentation, followed by general
discussion with fellows present. A report on the meeting will be
prepared for the working party. All participants are encouraged to read
the CPD discussion document which came in September's RSS News; copies
are available from Robert Aykroyd, the meeting's organiser.
The meeting will also be attended by Jon Silcock (a Pharmacist) and Joyce
Cawthra (Institute of Chartered Accountants) who will give details of their
organisations' CPD schemes.
The meeting will be in the Reading Room, Level 9, School of Mathematics,
University of Leeds starting at 4:30pm with refreshments from 4:00pm.
