                        III Conference
                     Rome, July 7 - 9 1999
The 3rd National Conference of the Italian Region of the International
Biometric Society is organized to bring together researchers in various
fields of application of statistics: agricoltural sciences and forestry,
anthropology, biology, demography, environmental sciences, genetics,
medicine. The scientific program includes invited sessions, oral
presentations, a poster session, a discussion and a round table.

The following speakers are, sofar, invited:

A. GOLINI - University La Sapienza, Rome Italy
P.O'HIGGINS - University of London, U.K.
E. BIGANZOLI - National Cancer Institute, Milan Italy
M SCHEMPER - University of Vienna, Austria

On Wednesday morning there will be a tutorial seminar on survival analysis by
Maria Grazia Valsecchi (University of Verona, Italy) and Alessandra Nardi
(University of Teramo, Italy). This seminar will include a short presentation
by Andrea Spano' (Mathsoft) on the application of the computer package
S-Plus to survival analysis.

                 CALL FOR PAPERS
                (deadline March 29, 1999)

To participate with an oral presentation or with a poster, send an
abstract (email preferred) to the conference secretary no later
than March 29, 1999. The abstract (max. length 3 pages) should
include a short description of the problem and of the objectives,
methods and results of the study and a list of references.
Abstracts will be refereed by the scientific committee and the
author(s) will be notified of acceptance by April 20, 1999. Abstracts
of oral presentations will be published in the Book of Abstracts of
the Conference.
  

CONFERENCE SITE
 
Conference Room (SALA CONVEGNI) of the National Research Council (C.N.R.),
Piazzale Aldo Moro 7, Rome. The C.N.R. building is near the University
area of the city, within a short distance of the main railway station
(Termini Station).
  

OFFICIAL LANGUAGES

The conference official languages are Italian and English.
