Dear all
We currently have a blind student taking our undergraduate degree
programme, who is now beginning the second year of his course.
Last year we arranged for all the lecture notes to be converted to
braille by hand, but this year we've tried automating the conversion
by coming up with a reasonable - but far from perfect - latex to
braille converter. I was wondering if anyone was aware of any
software for converting latex to UK maths braille or has any
experiences of producing maths course materials for blind students
which might help.
Also, the student concerned has decided to take lots of statistics
modules in his second year. At least one of these modules
involves extensive use of Minitab. Has anyone any experience or
ideas of how to make life easier for the student when dealing with
Minitab? At the moment he works with someone else at the
computer, then receives a print out, has it hand brailled and works
from that.
Thanks for any help and suggestions.
Dave
