The following call for papers has gone out on various lists. In general,
it is best to submit proposals for complete sessions rather than individual
papers, so if members of this list are interested could I suggest they send
either individual paper proposals concerned with historical applications of
GIS TO ME, or ideas for sessions, BY THE END OF FEBRUARY. I will then try
to assemble sessions with more specific themes. NB the language of the
meeting is English.
We have just more or less finalised a set of sessions on historical GIS at
the 1999 meeting of the Social Science History Association, to be held in
Fort Worth this November, although we are waiting for formal confirmation.
These include two sessions on the application of GIS to urban history, a
session on "Spatial History", a session on applying GIS to the historical
geography of the book trade and a tutorial workshop on GIS for historians.
More details later.
Best wishes,
Humphrey Southall (list owner)
