Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer in German to start either
on 1 February 2000 or 1 September 2000, or on a mutually convenient date
between these two points. Candidates should have completed or be on the
point of completing a PhD and have a proven research record of publications
or prospects of publication. Candidates with research specialisms in the
modern and contemporary fields, which might include cultural studies,
modern history, political studies or contemporary literature, are invited
to apply. The successful candidate would also be expected to contribute to
language teaching. Salary will be within the range £ 16, 655 - £ 21,815
per annum depending on qualifications and experience.
The Department was rated excellent (22) in the recent Teaching Quality
Assessment, gained the highest grade (5*A) in the 1996 HEFC Research
Assessment Exercise and has an active postgraduate culture. We are looking
for an outstanding candidate with evidence of strong commitment to teaching
at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and to research.
