Dear colleaques
My colleaque, Sten Hansen, has asked me to forward the folowing question to
you:
"Is there someone who has been working specific with forecasting the future
n u m b e r o f t r a i n s in connection with appraisal of railprojects
? Either on a specific line or on the network as a hole.
I am only interested in forecasts related to traffic, not passenger
forecasts in railtransport (on which much more is done).
I am doing a Ph.D study on quantification of the impacts of Railway
projects, and one of my points is, that the future number of trains is one
of the major determinants on capacity need and projects cost (and hence, the
forecast for the number of passengers). In road appraissal, there is often
assumed a simplified relation between travellers and vehicles (average car
occupancy).
Thank You in advance."
You may reply to me - or directly to him at [log in to unmask]

Stine Gissel
