                   20th Annual Award Evening 2000

On 29th March 2000 the TEG will be holding its 
Annual Award evening, in Cardiff.  

A prize of #150 is offered to the Author and 
Presenter of the best paper on a topic broadly 
related to transportation.  

Authors, who need not be members of the 
Institution of Civil Engineers, are invited to send a 
synopsis (no more than 500 words) to:

              Transportation Engineering Group - 2000 
                        Transportation Award 

Award rules

1	Papers may be on any transportation related subject (transportation will 
be 	interpreted widely).
2	The authors contribution to the work must be made clear.
3	The work described should be recent, within the last five years .
4	Synopses must be typed and should be no more than 500 words (one 
side of 	A4).  The synopsis should be sufficiently detailed to enable the Award 	
Committee to assess the content and quality of the proposed paper.
	Synopses must be received by 10th December 1999
5	Authors of the selected six best synopses will be notified in January 
2000 and 	invited to submit the full paper (approx. 3000 words) by10th 
February 2000.
6	Writers of the three selected papers will present them to the meeting of 
the 	TEG in Cardiff on Wednesday29th March2000.  The winner will be 	
announced on the evening.  Reasonable expenses will be paid to presenters.
7	The presentation will last 20 minutes and may include slides or other 
graphic 	displays.
8	The presentation will be taken into account in the assessment of papers, 
	however, content and quality will already have been marked.
9	Judges may briefly question speakers at the end of their presentation.
10	If the standard of papers is not judged to be of a sufficiently high 
standard no 	prize will be awarded.
11	Current members of the TEG Committee are excluded.
12	Judges will be nominated by the Group.
13	The TEG reserves the right to retain any or all entries for publication in 	
journals of the Institution.

             Virtual Environment Techniques and Travel 
                              Behaviour
            Teleworking as a Practice for Travel Demand 
                             Management
               A Community Approach to Traffic Calming
              Kallin Harbour - Design and Construction
        The Wind is Free - A Traditional Use of the Elements

Successful authors have come from Leeds, 
Southampton, The Western Isles and Devon as well 
as South Wales!
