EPSRC (the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council) and
DETR (the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions)
have this week announced the first call of a new 3 year research
programme in Future Integrated Transport (FIT).
The FIT programme aims to address the challenge of integrated
transport by stimulating imaginative partnerships to undertake high
quality research which will enable transport practitioners and
decision makers in the medium to long term future to make informed
choices from a wider range of options.
Funding is available under the LINK scheme for collaborative
research projects linking industry and the science base. In
addition, funding is available through EPSRC's standard research
grants mechanisms for universities working with local authorities,
charities, PTEs etc.
Outline proposals consisting of an outline proposal form and a two
page case for support should be submitted to EPSRC by 5 November
1999.
Full details of the call and how to apply can be found on
www.research.detr.gov.uk/link/fit/index.htm
or phone Andrew Hathorn at DETR on 0171 890 5034 for an information
