HI DENIS,
CAN YOU BE MORE SPECIFIC IN THE TERM KARSTIC? VIZ TYPE OF MINE OR FERRIC
PRODUCTS
By kerstic mines, I mean karstic caves filled up with
sands or clay sediments especially during Pleistocene.
These sediments contain iron oxydes as nodules or
thin sediments.
But it is possible to find some different types of
filling in some older sandstone formations.
I know there are some deposit like that in the
south of England in the Forest of Dean for example...
but where exactly and what are the chronology of these
types of mining in Great Britain and Ireland ?
Regards
Denis

I have an interest in the distribution of karstic mines especially iron
karstic mines in Europe.
I would be very interesting to know if some of these mines exist in Great
Britain or Ireland.
Is there any study about this type of mining which is very important in
some
part of Europe.
Iron oxyde coming from these cave's fillings was very used for metallurgy
until the beginning
of XXth century in the East of France.
Thanks a lot for any information.
With best regards.
