1) The holiday period is fast approaching. Those of you going away over
Christmas and the New Year, and not checking e-mail whilst away, should
consider suspending list messages for the duration of the holiday. Send the
following message to <[log in to unmask]>
suspend mail mining-history
stop
You can read messages to the list on your return by going to the archive on
the list web pages at http://www.mailbase.ac.uk/lists/mining-history
2) The possibility of disruption by the 'millenium bug' over New Year is
causing concern in some quarters. Mailbase is confident that the service is
'bug' proof but cannot speak for all those servers world wide handling list
messages. As a precaution mailbase has increase the message hold time from
7 to 14 days. I will switch mining-history to a moderated service over the
period 31 Dec to 2 Jan - all messages will come to me first to be forwarded
to the list - that will help with early detection of problems (e.g. loops -
multiple messages, self-perpetuating on the list). If members do experience
problems please contact me at <[log in to unmask]>
Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year
Peter
