The University of Exeter has agreed to fund the post of Programme Development Officer [PDO]
within the School. The post will be tenable for one year on a full time and fixed-term basis, or for one
year (renewable for a further year) on a half-time (50%) basis, and will become available from 1
September 1999 or an earlier date if this can be agreed with the successful candidate.

The School has a successful and thriving range of postgraduate courses which it aims to improve and

day per week with the Graduate School.

The main responsibilities of the post-holder will be to organise the administration of the new
programme submissions and assist the two Directors in organising the accreditation of new courses
within the Graduate School. The person appointed will be expected to work on modules prepared for
the Continuing and Professional Development Office as well as dealing with standard academic
programmes.

Candidates should have excellent administrative and organisational abilities, work effectively as part
of a small team of people, be able to draft submissions to tight deadlines under the direction of the two
Directors, and have clear capacity to undertake questionnaires and market research. A key role will be
in the evaluation of the student market for new and existing programmes. The person appointed will
be responsible for establishing an efficient administrative and office system for dealing with enquiries,
