Dear Mr. Weyers,
I am happy to oblige. Your Saudi friend may wish to consult in addition to
E.J. Wensinck's comprehensive article in the Encyclopaedia of Islam,
"al-KhaDir," EI(2), 4:902-5, the following articles:
Meri, Josef W., “Re-appropriating Sacred Space: Medieval Jews and Muslims
Seeking Elijah and al-Khadir,” Medieval Encounters: Jewish, Christian and
Muslim Culture in Confluence and Dialogue (Brill), November 1999.
Wheeler, Brannon M., "The Jewish origins of Qur An 18:65-82? Reexamining
Arent Jan Wensick's theory," Journal of the American Oriental Society, v118,
n2 (April-June, 1998):153 (19 pages).
Cheers,
Josef Meri

Subject: Index Islamicus search
I wonder if any of you has easy access to the Index Islamicus CD ROM and
could run a quick search on "Khidr" or "Khidir" as found in Surat al Kahf in
the Quran? I have a friend in Saudi Arabia who is particularly interested in
any PhD's and/or journal articles dealing with this topic.
Yours hopefully,
Richard
