SURGICAL ANIMATIONS & COMPLETE ANATOMY
The Interactive Hand CD-ROM addressed the need of hand surgeons and
therapists for an accurate 3D model of the human hand. The forearm
of a living subject was placed in specially adapted scanners to
achieve optimum resolution. The result is the world's first complete
3D reconstruction of the hand and forearm. This model can be rotated
in 3D, and layers of anatomy can be removed to show deeper structures.
Based on MRI scans of a living subject, every muscle, ligament,
and smallest anatomical structure is presented.
The Interactive Knee features complete and accurate modeling of knee
anatomy. On this CD-ROM, the anatomical presentation goes a stage
further. Using dynamic MR data, the CD-ROM includes some dramatic
animations of the knee in motion, displaying movements such as
patella tracking and ACL motion. There is also a range of surgical
animations showing typical procedures.
For radiologists, a special edition allows the user to slice the 3D
odel of the knee in every plane and correlate each slice to the
source MR data. Our collaborator, renowned radiologist, David
