This year all full-time students have been required to purchase their
textbooks, and so do not have departmental textbooks to return at the end of
their course. This has meant that the college has done away with its
traditional Leavers' Day, on which all leavers were required to come into
college and get a leaver's form signed by departmental and LRC staff to show
that all resources have been returned. This has left us in a bit of a
quandary (to say the least) over what to do about the LRC's books. As an
FE-level college we do not have the power to retain certificates as
universities do. I would be interested to hear what other colleges do about
this - I have searched the list archives but can only find a discussion
about HE institutions.
I would also be interested to hear othe colleges' experiences with deposit
systems for books and/or access to IT facilities. I have found 2 similar
threads in the archives and will contact the instigators of those direct,
but would welcome any additional comments.
Please reply to me direct and I will summarise for the list.
