<http://www.bl.uk/collections/epc/georex10.html>
The online exhibition includes fascinating images and text relating to
the history of the St. George's Lutheran Church in London and of its
Parish Library, recently acquired by The British Library.
"The St. George's Church Library exhibition marks the recent
acquisition by the British Library of the collection of books formerly
housed at St. George's Lutheran Church in Alie Street, Whitechapel.
This parish library is rich in the printed evidence for German
community life in London from the eighteenth to the twentieth
centuries. Its acquisition reminds us of the presence of a large
German-speaking population in London and of the very close social,
cultural, and religious ties between the city and Germany throughout
the period."
