FIL ( Forum for Interlending), in association with ILS (Inter-Library
Services), National Library of Scotland, presents a one-day event at the
National Library of Scotland, Edinburgh, on Friday 24th September 1999.
Speakers and topics -
James Beaton, SHINE
The Scottish Health Information Network seeks to promote collaborative
effort and partnership between health care library and information
services across all sectors. It has its own union catalogue of
periodicals and interlending scheme.
Helena Gillis, CAIRNS
CAIRNS is one of the eLib 'clump' projects that will provide a union
catalogue for Scottish HE libraries, integrating both print and electronic
resources.
Stuart James, University of Paisley
The University of Paisley has set up a series of partnerships with a
number of public library services across South West Scotalnd. The two-way
nature of the schemes permits distance learning to the university's
students, while providing members of the public with access to university
material from local branch libraries.
Stephanie Taylor, LAMDA
LAMDA is a document delivery service providing journal articles via Ariel
software, based on the collections of HE libraries in London, Manchester
and Leeds.
There will also be time for discussions and a chance to see behind the
scenes of the Inter-Library Services of the National Library.
