This event will bring delegates up to date in two important areas of law
that
affect the day to day work of information professionals. A full
description of
the Data Protection Act 1998, which is due to come into force in March
2000
will be given, together with the implications for information
professionals.
Recent developments in copyright law, both in terms of changes in the law
and
proposed changes in the law will be given, with a briefing on the current
state
of play of the draft Directive on copyright and related rights. Domain
name
issues will also be covered. There will be ample opportunity for discussion
and
at least one case study discussion.
