Unfortunately we cannot do this! Some of the databases that we have on the
NT fileserver require full access in order for them to work. We have found
it impossible to give read only access to some databases and full access to
others to the same points of use, thats why we stuck with DB/Searchworks -
any other suggestions?

All you need to do is put different access priorites on the
fileserver i.e. library staff access to everything, everyone else
read only. Works through the fileserver passwords.
