We're looking at purchasing several Digidesign Pro Tools ToolBox systems to
run on new Mac G3s. We've been advised by our supplier that we require the
Adaptec 3940 Wide+Double SCSI cards for each of the G3s since the other
slot on the G3 is needed for a video card to support a second monitor.
Is anyone familiar with the Adaptec 3940 SCSI card ? (It doesn't appear on
Adaptec's web site !?) Will it support data transfer between an external
hard drive (e.g. a Seagate Barracuda) to an Akai S3000 sampler running MESA
II editing software? My understanding is that MESA editing software cannot
operate over ultra-wide SCSI ports, therefore our Akai samplers need to go
on separate SCSI bus from the external hard drive.
Additionally - is anyone successfully running ProTools ToolBox AND Logic
Audio (Platinum)4.0 on such a setup, with Akai/MESA and also Hyperprism
plug-ins ?
Any advice & suggestions would be welcome,
thanks
