Dear all,
Recently I was shown some fire gilded brass objects, covered in a thick
black corrosion layer which turned out to be mainly copper oxide, Cu2O. The
local museum people have never encountered that sort of corrosion and do
not know how to remove the oxide layer to expose the original gilded
surface which is still underneath. Can anyone help?
Thanks
Kerstin
