Netskills Workshop: Getting to Grips with FrontPage 98

The Microsoft FrontPage 98 package offers a wide range of facilities
for Web site creation and management. These enable both new and existing
Web developers to produce sophisticated and professional Web pages easily
and quickly.
This practical FrontPage98 workshop is for those who are users of the
World Wide Web and would like to use a Web publishing tool to create their
Web pages and manage a Web site. Whether they have already started
authoring on the Web or not participants will be able produce a high
quality site without the need for programming skills.
Workshop Content:
The workshop will comprise presentations, demonstrations and
hands-on sessions with opportunities for questions and discussion.
Participants will each receive a workbook which contains workshop
exercises, presentation slides and other relevant materials.
Topics covered include:
Getting started with FrontPage98
Creating and editing Web pages including formatting text, adding
hyperlinks, adding images and creating tables
Page properties such as colours, backgrounds and metadata
Advanced and interactive elements such as forms, active buttons and
image maps
Web site management with FrontPage including using different "views"
to organisie the site structure, use of themes and templates,
link checking and updating, dynamic site updating and global editing
such as spell checking
Other issues such as standards, server issues and other FrontPage
specific features
By the end of the session participants will
have:
written a number of Web pages
created a basic Web site
included a range of elements in their Web pages
explored FrontPage specific issues
Participants will also have an opportunity to:
use additional features of FrontPage such as the image composer
and gif animator
investigate use other document formats such as Word and Excel
Workshop Requirements:
Participants need no special technical skills; however, basic computer
skills such as using a mouse and keyboard are essential. In addition,
experience in using Microsoft Windows to open and save files and open
and close applications (e.g. a word processor) would be helpful.
Participants are expected to have seen the World Wide Web and used a
Web browser such as Netscape or Internet Explorer.
The cost of the workshop is 99 pounds for participants from higher
and further education. Other participants should contact Netskills for the
relevant fees.
Note: Costs include lunch, morning coffee and afternoon tea.
