NOWNET LIAISON OFFICER
Salary: £15,735 - £23,651
The JRULM offers access to a significant range of important medical and
health-related databases over a number of networks including the Internet
and NHSNet to authorised University members working and studying on
NHS sites remote from the campus. The NoWNet Service, launched in
May 1997, is intended to complement the on site Medline service already
offered by Library and Information Services in North West Region Trusts.
A Liaison Officer is required to facilitate and promote this service with
demonstrations and training workshops and practical assistance.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and energetic person with excellent interpersonal
skills, flexibility and perseverance for this challenging post. Experience of
information retrieval preferably in health databases, some technical knowledge
of relevant hardware, networking and library software and the teamwork skills
needed to help li arians and their readers in NHS Trusts get the best out of the
developing NoWNet service are essential.
The post is for one year in the first instance and will require close liaison with
the JRULM's Electronic Resources Delivery Team, librarians and computer
services managers in the NHS Trusts and members of the JRULM Health
Sciences Team.
