Two Lectureship/Readership Appointments in Physical Geography/Geoscience
As part of wider programme of expansion that will include the appointment
of a Chair and Lectureship in Human Geography, the School of
Geography and Geosciences is offering two new appointments in Physical
Geography/Geoscience. While it is expected that a sub-professorial
appointment will be made, consideration may be given to more highly
qualified candidates.
The successful candidates will have a strong record of research
achievement, and will be expected to contribute to our Environmental
Reconstruction Research Group and/or our Sediment Systems Research
Group as well as offering teaching in both Geography and Geoscience
degree programmes. Candidates for Readership will be expected to have
research achievements of international standing. No restriction is placed on
the area of expertise, but preference will be given to physical
geographers/geoscientists whose research interests lie in one or more of
the following areas:
Quaternary palaeoecology, cryostratigraphy or sedimentology
GIS, remote sensing/image processing in Quaternary research
Tectonic geomorphology
Numerical modelling, preferably with expertise in clastic sedimentology
Geophysics
Hydro(geo)chemistry/environmental geochemistry
Experience in GIS and/or remote sensing techniques will be considered
advantageous.
