Thank you to Valerie for that. It's very good to have comments from those
who are normally silent here. Re the numbers... well, I mention it when the
series is in real jeopardy financially, but it only comes over as moaning.
So I don't say it that often. It is extraordinary though - there were
leaflets all over London, hundreds of them
.
A first for last night. The admonition to switch off answerphones has been
scoffed at and wasn't given last night... forgetfulness... and one went off.
.
I do try to be polite to people. I prefer to say nothing than to criticise,
as a general rule; but I shall vary that rule on this occasion. The owner of
the answerphone was so stupid? arrogant? unsympathetic? I don't know - as to
leave it on and it rang again. May they live in interesting times.
.
So now that'll have to be regularly announced as well. It's such a pity. It
turns the whole thing into a school room. But if "Don't put your glasses" on
the books is not said then people do; if "Do take your litter with you" is
not said then people leave it on the floor.
.
Ah well. A good night regardless.
.
Thanks are due to the League of Canadian Poets for helping to make the event
happen. It's probable that bissett will be on at The Klinker tonight.
.
The next Sub Voicive Poetry meeting is next Tuesday. Lisa Robertson.

Subject: Bill Bissett at Sub Voicive
I just wanted to say that last night's Sub Voicive at the 3 Cups with Bill
Bissett
was one of - if not the most - amazing evenings I can remember.
Despite the mass jingling of a group of Morris Dancers outside the pub (!),
the
almost seamless performance of chant/song/word/and almost dance was, quite
honestly simply astonishing.
It was such a pity that there were so few people there.
